JJ was born in Newellton, Louisiana, in 1974. He graduated with a B.S. in Construction Management in 2000 from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. While at ULM, JJ was actively involved with the Associated General Contractors, receiving the first Thurmon Potts Scholarship through the Monroe AGC. He was also a Vice President of the Construction Guild and a member of the honors fraternity, Sigma Chi. He attended and earned his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2003. JJ was a member Federalist Society while in law school and routinely made the Chancellor’s List.
After practicing in Baton Rouge, JJ joined Hudson, Potts & Bernstein in 2005.
JJ’s professional affiliations include the Louisiana State Bar Association and a past member of the Fred J. Fudickar Inns of Court. He is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, United States Tax Court, Fifth Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and before the Eastern, Middle and Western U. S. District Courts of Louisiana. JJ is also licensed to practice in the Louisiana Supreme Court and all Louisiana State Courts.
JJ is married to Joanna Gray Huckabay, and they have five children, daughters Marissa and Kate and sons T-Ray, Baylis and Ethan.
